Guards/Bite Appliances

Guards, Bite Appliances

Protect your teeth from injury

Your teeth are vulnerable, so it is very important to protect them from injury. The best protection you can provide your teeth against injury is a guard that encases your teeth in a protective, impact-resistant shell. At Markham Gate Dental Centre, we offer custom-made sports guards and bite appliances that fit your teeth perfectly, offering you comfortable protection for your smile.

Although there are many ways your teeth can be injured, the two most common sources of damage to teeth are nighttime grinding and injury from high-impact and contact sports.

Nighttime Grinding

Do you wake up with a sore jaw? If so, you may be grinding or clenching your teeth at night. This condition, called bruxism, can cause damage to your teeth such as chips, eroded enamel, or loose teeth, and can also damage or break crowns, veneers or fillings. A custom-made bite appliance will hold your teeth in place at night, preventing you from grinding, and damaging, your teeth.

Sports Injury

High-contact or high-impact sports such as hockey, martial arts, or football are well known for injuries to teeth, but did you know that almost any sport can result in an injury? Whether you are a pro or a weekend warrior, we can provide you with a custom made guard to cover and protect your teeth from sports injuries.
